    Plot Outline:
A young Vermont widow is haunted by the memory of her dead husband, while trying to date again.

    Michael C. Hall's Role:
Bereft is an independent feature from Showtime (which would later house the home to Dexter) and in it we see Michael C. Hall as Jonathan, a guy who goes out on a date with Vinessa Shaw's character Molly. Molly has lost her husband and in attempt to make her parents happy and maintain the illusion of normalcy, she whips up an instant boyfriend by accepting the blind date with Jonathan, whom she drags home to meet her parents just after their first date.

Fortunately, while Michael is still in yet another small role as with Paycheck, Bereft is certainly a step-up in the film department. The movie is beautifully shot and occasionally haunting. Some would discredit these smaller roles, but even with them I think you can still see Michael's amazing acting abilities as you're only given minutes to get a feel for the character and decide if you like them or not (where as with Dexter or David we get multiple seasons and massive character development). Jonathan is very blunt and honest in the short scenes he is in, it's also funny to see his awkwardness - you can certainly see promise in MCH for bigger and better roles! Definitely one to check out; a bit of a no-brainer to any fan anyways, since there are such few MCH movies to date.
