James Remar, who plays Dexter Morgan’s adoptive father on Dexter, says he’s unsure as to whether he’ll be asked back to appear on future episodes of the Showtime series (which is now seen in edited replays Sundays on CBS).

“It seems as if Dexter was distancing himself from Harry, but they haven’t let me know,” he said. “But I would love to shoot more episodes of Dexter. Dexter breaks new ground. It’s a very cohesive set. I’ve worked with really good actors on that show, especially Michael C. Hall. … It’s a guilty pleasure.”

Dexter stars Hall as a police detective who is also a serial killer. Remar, who has played killers himself quite a bit (he was the main bad guy in 48 Hrs.), said the show makes him think.

“For me, it’s opened my mind up to some stuff — the way we perceive who is the good guy and who is the bad guy, and people doing terrible things to each other — when it’s all right and when it isn’t.”

Check out an interesting new interview with Jeff Lindsay over at USA Today. He comments on Michael C. Hall’s performance:

Lindsay is thrilled with Dexter‘s transformation from page to screen. “I love Michael C. Hall. When I first heard him read from the script, I thought, ‘He’s it. He’s perfect.’ “

The Shield alum Charles “Chic” Eglee is trading in one anti-hero for another, joining Showtime’s serial killer hit Dexter as an exec producer.

Eglee fills the void left by Daniel Cerone, who departed the show after its second season (and who recently took the reins of ABC’s Dirty Sexy Money). Clyde Phillips continues as showrunner on Dexter.

Eglee’s credits also include Dark Angel, Murder One, NYPD Blue and The Byrds of Paradise.

Dexter, Showtime’s original series about a serial killer with a conscience, will soon be cutting its way into a video game courtesy of Ecko Entertainment.

Next generation video games are all about the cutting edge these days, but Ecko Entertainment took that literally when it announced today that Dexter, Showtime’s popular series about a crime solving serial killer, would be carving its way onto consoles sometime soon.

According to IGN, developer information, price, console specifics and a release date are all “no comment” at this time. However, Marc Fernandez, Vice President of Marc Ecko Entertainment, said his company is working closely with Showtime to keep the game as faithful to the television show as possible. That probably means a heavy dose of bloody plastic sheets and actor Michael C. Hall’s inner monologues.

The Parents Television Council has called for advertisers to boycott CBS’ Dexter because of its violent nature and asked CBS network affiliates to pre-empt the show.

The main character works for the police as a blood-spatter expert who has channeled his desire to kill by secretly targeting only criminals. The show was originally produced for Showtime, which is owned by CBS Corp. However, Showtime is a pay-cable network. CBS has edited the show for free broadcast to take out the most violent parts.

The PTC does not feel CBS has edited the show enough.

“Despite countless public calls for restraint and corporate responsibility, CBS broke its own promise to the public that it would employ careful editing and accurate ratings guidelines for Dexter,” said PTC president Tim Winter. “Depictions of violence were barely altered from the Showtime network original format.”

Winter also derided CBS for not labeling the show for mature audiences only.
