Some awful news came out moments ago. Several sources are reporting that Michael C. Hall is undergoing treatment for cancer and the disease is in remission, a spokesman said. Our thoughts, prayers and love goes out to all of his family, friends and anyone who has been touched by the works of this gifted actor. The good news to report is that it is in remission – but still, sad nonetheless.
The Associated Press reports:
“I feel fortunate to have been diagnosed with an imminently treatable and curable condition, and I thank my doctors and nurses for their expertise and care,” Hall, 38, said Wednesday in a statement.
The actor was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system, which is part of the body’s immune system. The disease is considered highly treatable with the potential for full recovery.
Craig Bankey, a spokesman for the actor, said the cancer is in complete remission and Hall’s treatment will continue as planned.
When Hall was diagnosed and the name of the Los Angeles-area health facility where he’s undergone treatment were not released.
Hall plans to attend Sunday’s Golden Globe awards and the upcoming Screen Actors Guild ceremony with his wife, actress Jennifer Carpenter, who plays his sister on Showtime’s “Dexter.” Hall is a nominee at both awards shows for his role as Dexter Morgan, a serial killer working as a blood-spatter expert.
Bankey said Hall will return to production on the drama’s fifth season later this year.

I am a 35 year survivor of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, stage IIIB. The older treatments were not without concerns for long term remission, but out of all the cancers to have, this is the “best one.” The newer treatments are less toxic to the body. Good luck! You have lots of support and company.

As far as I know, for today, Hodgkin’s lymphoma successfully treated – especially in the early stages, so there is confidence that Michael cured. We need to think positive and good energy of positive emotions help Michael fight the disease

Caro Michael, mi chiamo Annalisa e sono italiana.
mfc • Jan. 14, 2010
Michael,
I dealt with Hodgkins back in ’94/’95, I always held the same view. “I am fortunate it was very treatable.” It was a tough road of chemo, bone marrow transplant, and radiation. But 15 years later, I have to say it was worth it. Hang in there, and enjoy life………
Marianne • Jan. 14, 2010
Dear Michael, v. sorry to hear about your illness. Good to read you are in remission. All the best to you, your wife and family.
Marianne
It is not sad, and it isn’t necessarily awful. I had non-hodgkins lymphoma 23 years ago, and went through 12 weeks of chemo. Michael C Hall has a very high chance of full recovery.
Lyta • Jan. 14, 2010
Michael, be sure to treat Mr C with the same medicine Dexter treats his victims! ;-) Fight it and kill it!
You are one of my very favourite actors and from the bottom of my heart I wish you a speedy and full recovery. Lots of love and positive vibes from Greece :-)
Lyta
All the best wishes from your fans back in Italy! Get better Micheal!

Pretty cool to see well wishes from Italy, Russia, Spain, etc. So here’s one from Texas! I’m a huge MCH fan and I wish him the best, he and his family are in my prayers. I know his father died of cancer when he was young, so I’m very happy to hear he’s in remission. Along with everyone else, I was heartbroken and shocked when I heard this yesterday.
On an unrelated topic, I hope he wins all of the awards he has long deserved for his work on Dexter this award season!
I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma 10 years ago. Today I have 2 kids with another on the way. Its by far one of the most treatable conditions out there.
Best wishes to you and your family during this time. Thanks for all the work you put into Dexter, we’re huge fans.
KATIE • Jan. 14, 2010
I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when I was 14, and under went five years of chemo, radiation, and even a relapes when i was 16. I’m 20 now and finished chemo this past august.
I know exactly what you’re going through, and I speak from experience when I was keep positive and laugh a lot… at all the little things, it helped me alot, and take this as a way to make yourself stronger.
I wish the best to and you’re family, and you’ll come out on top, REMEMBER: YOU DON’T HAVE CANCER, CANCER HAS YOU!!!!!!!!!

Glad you’re in remission, Michael! Hopes and Prayers!
Bill • Jan. 15, 2010
Good to hear you’re in remission, Mary Ann. I am a 2x survivor of Hodgkins – first diagnosed with Stage IIB in 1978 (age 25) and treated with radiation. In remission until 2006 when a single node was found and treated with chemo. No problems since. And yes, I heard 30 years ago that “if you had to get a cancer, Hodgkins was the one to get”. Best of luck Michael, and we’ll look forward to seeing you healthy again next season!

Michael,

Here’s to hoping you win on Sunday!

Get well soon Michael! I’m a fellow Hodgkin’s survivor – I was diagnosed and treated with chemo at 20, and now I’m 27 and have been in remission for 6 years. HI Michael…I am from Italy and I can to say you “FORZA!!!” becouse my wife (31) had Hodgkin cancer 2 years ago (14x12cm!) and after 7 months of ABVD chemio therapy she is remissed now….(she have 7cm again but “dead thing”….and after 3 tac-pet exams in 1,5 years this is off…..
I am sure that you will win this battle….it’s heavy yes, but this is one of the less dangerous than others….bad thing yes, but most curable….ok??
FORZA DEXTER!
Mr Hall,
Just a quick note to wish you and your family and friends the best of luck with your recovery. You are a brilliant, talented actor who entertains and excites. Best of luck.
