Emmy-worthy drama actors revel in the unflattering complexities of their characters.
Gone are the days when being a leading man on television meant being the most likable guy onscreen. TV actors now get to show their skills with dark, complex characters — even on broadcast network shows. The Hollywood Reporter‘s Ray Richmond and Matthew Belloni gathered six fine examples of TV’s new actor elite — Simon Baker (CBS’ The Mentalist), Bryan Cranston (AMC’s Breaking Bad), Laurence Fishburne (CBS’ CSI: Crime Scene Investigation), Michael C. Hall (Showtime’s Dexter), Denis Leary (FX’s Rescue Me) and Bill Paxton (HBO’s Big Love) — to discus the grind of series work and the good fun in playing bad guys.

Three months after Amazon.com started taking advance orders for the season 3 DVD – both for standard DVD and high-def Blu-ray Disc formats – of hit Showtime series Dexter, the cable company has finally pegged a release date for the heavily anticipated season – August 18th.
Showtime and Paramount Home Entertainment have officially informed retailers that the DVD for Dexter‘s third season will be available in mid-August for $42.99 for the standard DVD and $59.99 for Blu-ray. While the extra features and add-on’s haven’t been revealed thus far, the running time is reportedly approximately 600 minutes.
Really exciting news hit the press today. Reports say that John Lithgow will be joining the cast of Dexter! Lithgow will appear in all 12 episodes of the show’s upcoming fourth season, playing Walter Simmons.
For more info about his character read on after the cut, but beware of spoilers.

I have added Michael’s 2004 Advocate magazine photoshoot to the gallery and also one more pic to the Blackbook outtakes from last year. I really love both shoots!

This is a small update but I wanted to post quickly and say that the Gamer trailer is now available in HD on Apple. I’ve replaced the captures with HD ones so be sure to check those out.
I’ve also finally added the missing pictures from the 2009 Screen Actors Guild Awards back in January.

In late April, Michael was photographed filming on location in Los Angeles for his upcoming film Peep World. Some of the pictures are really funny as the scene looks pretty intense. I can’t wait to see this!
Peep World is the story of a family on a collision course with itself. A plan bringing four siblings together to celebrate their father’s 70th birthday degenerates into an absurd theater of accusation and resentment as they come to terms with a novel written by one of the siblings that exposes the family’s most intimate secrets.

Game has been renamed once again, now going by the title Gamer. Also earlier this month the trailer and a new poster were released. The video can be watched in our archive or below the cut. I will admit, the movie never appealed to me other than Michael but I have to say he does look really cool in the trailer, but Michael always does I suppose! Check out screencaps in the gallery.

EW has some details on Dexter‘s upcoming season. Be weary of spoilers if you want to remain pure! By the way, as you may have noticed it took me a little longer than expected to fully return because I lost my internet connection last month right after I was back from traveling, but I’m back now and rest assured regular updates are resuming soon!
Apologies in advance for perpetuating an overused pun, but Dexter’s fourth season sounds, well, killer.
When the Showtime hit returns next fall, six months will have lapsed on screen, leaving newlyweds Dexter (Michael C. Hall) and Rita (Julie Benz) the proud parents of a baby boy. “This season, we’re going to deal with: Can a serial killer juggle a personal life, work, and his ‘dark passenger’?” reveals executive producer Sara Colleton. “In other words, can Dexter have it all? Which is something all of us grapple with every day of our lives. So we’re taking something that is a very human dilemma and putting it through the prism of Dexter’s special needs.”
